Link Pharmacy is Maidstone's local independent pharmacy. We offer exceptional customer service with highly trained and friendly staff who will endeavour to meet all your healthcare needs. We dispense both NHS and Private Prescriptions with the aim to complete our customers’ prescriptions promptly and accurately. Contraception services are free and confidential, including for people under the age of 16.
If you're under 16 and want contraception, this is a confidential service and we will not inform your parents (or carer) as long as we believe you fully understand the information you're given, and your decisions.

We dispense NHS prescriptions (paper and electronic) and will give advice on how to get the most benefit from your medicines. We keep a comprehensive stock of medicines and use a fast and an efficient wholesaler service to enable us to dispense all prescriptions promptly.

Please return all unwanted medicines to the pharmacy where we will dispose of them safely.
We can provide the ‘Morning After Pill’ or Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC) service as an emergency measure to prevent unwanted pregnancy. Generally, this is free for those under 30.
Please speak, in confidence, with our Pharmacist they will be able to advise if EHC is suitable for you. This service is subject to staff availability. Please call ahead to arrange a time to come in.
If you need one of your regular prescribed medicines in an emergency, when you are unable to contact your doctor, we may be able to help. This can only be done in genuine emergencies and when your surgery is shut.
Please call 111 and ask for a NUMSAS referral to our pharmacy. After giving them your details, be sure to ring us before coming in and one of our pharmacists will do their best to help.

If you’re between 40 and 74 and live in the UK, you should have a health check which we can do at our pharmacy.
The health check should take around 45 minutes. A healthcare professional, will ask you a series of simple questions about your lifestyle and family history. The check is nothing to worry about and you won’t be asked any embarrassing questions.
You can also expect:
- A blood pressure test
- A cholesterol test
- Your weight and height measured
The Health Check focuses on:
- Heart disease
- Diabetes
- Strokes
- Kidney disease
If you are over 65, you will also be told the signs of dementia to look out for.
After your blood pressure test and BMI results, our advisor will be happy to offer lifestyle advice or suggest you visit your GP, if needed. They might offer ideas on how to:
- Improve your diet
- Increase your levels or frequency of physical exercise
At Link Pharmacy we have a number of experienced Pharmacists and registered Technicians who are able to advise on the use of medicine compliance aids (MCA). We offer a number of products that can help you take your medicines more easily.

This is a medicine check-up service, which is useful if you regularly take several prescription medicines or are on medicines for a long- term condition. This confidential NHS service will help you to find out about your medicines, identify any problems you may be having with them and help you to take your medicines to best effect.

The Common Ailments Scheme is a service for anyone who is registered with a GP in West Kent who doesn’t pay for NHS prescriptions. This includes children. It enables them to get advice and some medications free of charge from their pharmacy.
Common ailments treated under this scheme:
- cold sores
- conjunctivitis
- constipation
- cough
- cystitis
- diarrhoea
- earache
- fever
- fungal skin infections
- headache
- head lice
- hay fever
- indigestion
- insect bites / stings
- mild eczema / dry skin
- nasal congestion

- sprains/strains
- threadworms
- vaginal thrush
We provide a needle exchange service where intravenous drug users can obtain clean sterile needles and syringes and safely dispose of used needles and syringes.
This service is designed to prevent people sharing or re using needles. It also reduces drug related harm and the transmission of blood borne bacterial and viral infections such as hepatitis B and C or HIV.
The service is lead by our Pharmacist in a non-judgemental manner and may lead to the user being referred to an appropriate drug treatment programme i.e. opioid substitute treatment in order to stop drug usage . Our Pharmacist can also advise on minimising the harms caused by drugs and suggest further support and help.
When you are prescribed a medicine to treat a long-term condition for the first time, the pharmacist will support you to use the medicine safely and to best effect.
Our pharmacist will talk to you approximately two weeks after you first receive the medicine to see how you are getting on with it and to discuss any problems you may have. A second follow- up will be a month after you first receive the medicine. The service is only available to people using certain medicines. Our pharmacist will give you details and offer this free NHS service, if this is available to you.
We keep records of all your prescriptions dispensed by us as well as records of other services we provide to you. This helps us check for possible problems, such as reactions between medicines and will help us deal with any queries you may have.
We offer a free prescription collection service from selected local general practices and we can also deliver prescriptions to your home. Ask us for more information about this service.
Our Pharmacist and trained assistants are available to provide advise on how to stop smoking.
We provide FREE comprehensive support including:
- Provision of behavioural support to patients attempting to stop smoking
- Supply of medicines for stopping smoking including Varenicline (Champix), Patches, Gums and Inhalators
- Carbon Monoxide monitoring to see how smoking is affecting your Health
